\u201cThen Saul clothed David with his garments and put a bronze helmet on his head, and he clothed him with armor.\u00a0David girded his sword over his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested\u00a0them. So, David said to Saul, \u2018I cannot go with these, for I have not tested\u00a0them.\u2019 And David took them off.\u00a0He took his stick in his hand and chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook and put them in the shepherd\u2019s bag which he had, even in\u00a0his\u00a0pouch, and\u00a0his sling was in his hand; and he approached the Philistine.<\/b>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

David tried on King Saul\u2019s impressive armor, but he had to reject it. As Saul and his army trembled in fear, the shepherd boy knew that the Lord was greater than Goliath. David chose the weapons that he had tried, tested, and found true. <\/span>Under God\u2019s anointing,<\/span><\/i> David\u2019s sling shot became a lethal assault weapon. So, God who had given David victory over the lion and the bear honored David\u2019s faith once again. At a time when adversity is threatening and the enemy is raging, we must resist the urge to walk by sight because Saul\u2019s armor is beneath our privilege– and not up to the challenge!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dear Father,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Anxiety, fear, anger, and other lusts of the flesh may tempt us to sink to the level of our opposition. Please remind us of who and Whose we are. You have delivered us from danger so many times before. As we walk in the Spirit, the weapons of our warfare bring us victory and You alone are glorified. It\u2019s the truth that sets us free, from both the power and the wages of sin. Because the enemy is the author of lies, he distorts and perverts what God has said and done. False Gospels serve those who\u2019d rather embrace their sin, than repent of it. The theologies behind these fake gospels may use harmless sounding labels like inclusive <\/i>or progressive. <\/i>But anything that leads us to celebrate what God forbids, is not of God, and therefore has no power to redeem. So, we can choose to walk in truth by the Word\u2014or embrace our old nature by the counterfeit. One offers life\u2014the other offers death. But there is no middle ground.\n\nDear Lord, \n<\/i>Please keep us from deception. For in your perfect love, you are neither double-minded, nor swayed by popular opinion: You change not. No one can improve your word or your finished work. By your grace, we can take the narrow path, where our hunger for truth overrides the flesh. In Jesus\u2019 Name.
