He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies<\/b>.<b>\u201d ~<\/b><b>Psalm 18:2<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cWhy do you call me, \u2018Lord, Lord,\u2019 and do not do what I say?\u201d ~<\/b><b>Luke 6:46<\/b><br \/>Have you ever heard someone refer to a loved one as their solid rock, their reason for living, and the air that they breathe? While these accolades are well-meaning and sincere, they stem from a miss-guided idea of whom we are to ascribe such power. No human being can carry that weight: Sooner or later they will fail at the task. Only God, the Creator and Redeemer holds our lives in His more than sufficient hand. He alone gives us breath, is altogether faithful, and worthy of our complete trust. Because Christ and His Word are one, we cannot claim Him as our rock\u2014and disobey Scripture.<br \/><i><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Dear Lord, Help us to see what it means to reverence your Lordship. Misapplied worship is idolatry, which denies your rightful place in our lives. When we fail to trust and obey your Word, our lives are unstable and misaligned.
