Discipleship

Let us consider this: The Word was made flesh. The Word will not be used to manipulate Himself. The Word will not be

conformed to the will of His creation. Christ is the Sovereign Head, and His body is called to follow Him by the Spirit.

Holy Spirit of God, reach in and turn the breech births. We humble ourselves and forsake our own understanding. You alone know the flawless will of God, and we trust you to lead us in each and every situation. Such is the kingdom and the way of discipleship.

Discipleship
There are mountains to climb
And there are mountains to move
Climbing the “Movers” will take you nowhere
The “Climbers” cannot be moved
For they are stairways to Me!

Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” ~Matthew 16:24

My Thoughts

In the Bible, mountains have been associated with the place of God’s presence – the place where He has interacted with His people and the place where His people have sought Him. Jesus also used the mountain to represent a formidable thing that could be removed as man exercised his faith in God. Yet, there are trials suffered by the faithful throughout Scripture. And as children of God, we are called to endure

hardship as discipline (Hebrews 12).

Movers – represent those things that we can circumvent or be delivered from by faith. They may also be things that we’ve taken

on ourselves. Sometimes we can be pulling a load that God did not assign to us.

Climbers – represent the things that we must go through – there is no way around them. They represent the cup that cannot be removed. We can’t speak a word and make them disappear because it they are needful for our journey. We are matured as we press through them, understanding that as servants of a sovereign Lord, we must obey His will, following the path He has made for us.

Stairways to Me – Stairways are made of steps. God orders the steps of his people. In going through the trails that can’t be moved aside we draw nearer to Him. Here is where we die to self. Our ultimate goal should always be a closer walk with Jesus. Our life’s journey is about the transformation into His likeness.
