Failsafe

The spirit is willing but the body is weak. Jesus, help me. I long for
intimacy, true Koinonia, where communion with you is failsafe.

Failsafe
Good soil retains the seed of life
For those who listen to your call
Rhema is sown into the heart

Some words of wisdom come by night
Fatigue drowns out the still small voice
I trust my head and fall asleep

My eyes are opened to the dawn
I feel a scream that has no voice
Your message faded into air

I heard you speak - of that I’m sure
Forgive my failure to respond
Please bid me, launch out for a draw

How does one eulogize this loss?
I’ll be attentive every hour
And trust your promise to return.

“The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ Then Samuel said, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.’”
1 Samuel 3:10

My Thoughts
Whether God speaks to us through the written word, or that intimate, rhema witness, His word is seed and we are the soil. However, Jesus warned us that the spirit is willing but the body is weak. There is wonder (and heartache)
when the rhema word comes to us in the middle of the night, and we fail to retain it. Those are the times we awake with the knowledge that something was spoken but we have no memory of the words.

In repentance we pledge to respond differently, next time. By grace, we’ll get up, write it down, and never again trust our flesh to remember, come morning.
Please bid me, launch out for a draw – Although Simon Peter had toiled all night, he returned with empty nets. But he trusted Jesus when He bid him to try again. What hope do we have that God will continue to speak to us? In Christ past failure does not limit future success. We have the blessed assurance of His loving faithfulness, abounding patience, and steadfast desire to be one with His people.

As She Lived

I didn’t know Jesus when I had my mother with me. I failed so often in my expression of love. But, her prayers availed much. I’m saved today, and I will see her again. Dear Lord, thank you for showing me that my mother’s greatest battle was not against material lack...

Beloved Unbeliever II

A wise soul cried out to Jesus, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Unbelief is the struggle of the human soul to come to terms with God’s perfect love.”  In contrite repentance I surrender my doubt and fear, and receive by faith your loving call...

Beloved Unbeliever

Someone once said that if God could be psychoanalyzed, it would be concluded that His love for us is obsessive-compulsive. In Psalm 8:4 David ponders, “What is man that you are mindful of him…?” Dear Father, you love us because you are love! You can be one with us...
