Soul Mates

Jul 1, 2017 | Blogs, Poetry Spotlight

Once upon a time, in the Garden of Eden, there was a divinely ordained union of Holy intimacy. The male beheld his Ezer-Kenegdo: his female counterpart, taken out of him, presented back to him, to reunite with him, as one flesh. It was God’s doing and God’s timing.

Father, we thank you that we are not left to make this crucial decision without you. For your Holy Spirit is present to lead us into all truth. Wisdom is ours for the asking. Deception prevails as we foolishly “lean unto our own understanding.” By faith, we trust your flawless will in the joining together of two kingdomappointed soul mates.

Soul Mates
You bare your heart
And
I stand naked and not ashamed.

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24

My Thoughts

After salvation, marriage is probably the most significant step we will take in our lifetime. Holy matrimony should be a safe refuge for us to bare ourselves without fear or shame. Because the two have become one flesh, the nakedness of one spouse reflects the nakedness of the other. A wise selection is crucial, for this kind of body and soul intimacy.

Christ is the only legitimate third party in the marriage bed. Ephesians 5:32 calls this union a profound mystery regarding Christ and His church. The mysteries of God can only be discerned and applied by the Spirit. Those who fail to study the word and pray regarding whom they should marry, are playing Russian roulette with their quality of life.

Beloved Unbeliever

Someone once said that if God could be psychoanalyzed, it would be concluded that His love for us is obsessive-compulsive. In Psalm 8:4 David ponders, “What is man that you are mindful of him…?” Dear Father, you love us because you are love! You can be one with us...
