After Birth

Jul 1, 2021 | Blogs, Poetry Spotlight

Jesus Christ, the last Adam. His obedient death forged a birth canal for all who would come after Him by the Spirit.

Abba Father, I thank you for abounding grace. From the mountain to the valley, you are my present help in this life, after birth.

After Birth
For most of my life
I hid from pain in a
World of make-believe
I ran there for comfort

Being born again,
My first steps come slowly

Sometimes, I pause
In the midst of reality
And give thanks for the Joy!

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~Romans 15:13

My thoughts
This was the first poem I wrote, after being born-again. As a babe in Christ, I was trying to express my wonder at what had happened to me—and was still happening. I found myself in the midst of a wonderful transition: unseen, but so very real. The old weights and fears were coming undone: no match for the power of God’s loving affirmation. I knew that whatever might come my way, the Son had set me free!

Beloved Unbeliever II

A wise soul cried out to Jesus, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Unbelief is the struggle of the human soul to come to terms with God’s perfect love.”  In contrite repentance I surrender my doubt and fear, and receive by faith your loving call...

Beloved Unbeliever

Someone once said that if God could be psychoanalyzed, it would be concluded that His love for us is obsessive-compulsive. In Psalm 8:4 David ponders, “What is man that you are mindful of him…?” Dear Father, you love us because you are love! You can be one with us...
