“Cast all your cares upon Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Much of our experience with human relationships has taught us to lean toward self-reliance. Independence becomes a natural defense against the pain of disappointment and rejection. Christ understands the burden of living in this fallen world– and He asks us to trust Him. God is nothing like the people and situations that failed us in the past. There is no danger in our submission to the Good Shepherd, who is perfect in love, sovereign in power, ever faithful, and altogether wise.
Dear Father,
You have called us to a level of trust that we have no frame of reference for. Thank you for your grace, which enables us to cast all our burdens on you: embracing the peace that surpasses all understanding. By faith, we can embrace our dependence on the only Wise God, who gave His life for us. In Christ, we are strong through submission, abiding in hope, and divinely careless. In Jesus’ Name we pray.
Amen.
