Wholly His

How great is God’s mercy towards us. For those who come by faith, there remains a rest – a place of His presence where we cease from our futile works and enter into the finished work of Christ.

Father, we thank you that The Way remains. By grace we hear the Shepherd’s call. Our hearts are drawn to this place of sacred abiding as we are made wholly His.

Wholly His
Lose yourself in Me
The mirror of the Word
Reveals your true reflection.
Wondrous things to see
The Shepherd’s voice is heard
Abide in My perfection.
Seek not to do, but be
A dwelling place reserved
Through death and resurrection.

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” John 15:4

My thoughts

In John 6:28-29 Jesus tells his followers that the work of God is to believe in Him (the one sent by the Father). The challenge is that our flesh wants to do something to earn the position we have in Christ. And believing is not your typical action verb. Only a mind that’s being renewed can grasp the concept that He did it all. But, there are wonderful blessings for those will accept the call to abide in the vine. They become the vessels that God can use.

Communion

In John 14:9 Jesus said, “…Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father…” But, can we honestly say that about ourselves? The harvest is plentiful. A form of godliness won’t do. He’s made the way. Now who will take up their cross and follow? Lord, I thank you for a torn...
