Believers are to be transformed into the likeness of Christ, whose DNA is the essence of all that is holy. Being in the world does not exempt us from His call to holiness. This call transcends denominations, cultures, and politics. The only way to get there is by the renewing of our minds. What we “feed on” is crucial to our spiritual transformation. No matter how gratifying something is to the flesh, pleasing to the eyes, or lucrative to the wallet, if it is lawless, godless, or disrespectful to the Holy Spirit, it cannot serve as a role model for our lives. Whatever God forbids in His Word will lead to our destruction in the end.
Dear Lord, Please give us an appetite for those things that edify. Help us to remember that profanity (of thought, word, or deed) is a forbidden form of expression for your people, and an affront to the indwelling of your Holy Spirit. By your grace we can become all that you’ve called us to be. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
