“Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.” ~James 3:1
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” ~Ephesians 2:10
In the 12th Chapter of his letter to the church in Rome, Paul urges each of us to present ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. He goes on to state that in order to do this we must be transformed in our minds, so that our actions no longer conform to the fallen world around us. This is especially crucial as we disciple others. Carnal teaching (and living) not only defiles and misleads those who are young in Christ, but it denies God the glory due His Name. God will not suffer the defamation of His character or His Word.
Dear Lord, Help us submit to the Lordship of Christ in all we do, especially as we teach in your name. You’ve given us grace to sacrifice and surrender whatever would impede our transformation into vessels fit for your use. Our service will edify others– as it is pleasing and acceptable to you.
