“Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.” Ephesians 4:28
“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35
Here, Paul reminds us of a foundational truth laid down by The Savior, Himself. We are to be a blessing to others. Those who work toward this end, come into alignment with our purpose in life, and our work brings God glory. As instruments of His will in the earth, we understand the blessing of giving, and serve in humility.
Dear Lord, In the midst of so much ‘self-care’ talk, we need your Spirit for wisdom and balance. The flesh will always lead us to selfish gain and hoarding. Help us to seek first your kingdom, and obey your Word. Lead us in the way of Biblical giving and sharing, so that every need will be met. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
